Lime, Salt, & Pepper Dipping Sauce (serves 1)

Lime, salt, & pepper dipping sauce is a great condiment for many types of steamed or boiled seafood such as crabs, shrimp, lobsters, fish, and octopus to name a few. It's really a simple sauce and requires basically no measurement. It's just a mixture of these 3 ingredients usually with more lime juice than salt and pepper. Si Y (my fourth maternal aunt) lives in another village, is a very busy and successful business woman, but she always finds time to send us good food no matter how hectic her schedule gets. Today she sent 2 live ocean crabs in a bag by motorbike transportation. When I received them they were still alive and tied up the Vietnamese way. They are tied in such a way so their claws will not be pinching those handling them. I washed them and dropped them in boiling water for about 15 minutes. while the crabs were cooking I made this dip so my grandmother and I could enjoy the fresh seafood. My grandmother loves eating seafood and she thought the sauce was just right. When you make this sauce adjust the proportions of the ingredients to your preference. Cam on Si Y!!


2 Tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper


Mix all ingredients together.
